In the summer of '92, I was visiting Los Angeles and discovered some brightly colored papers with instructions for folding origami, the Japanese art of paper folding. I purchased several packets of paper and some booklets explaining the folding process.

Returning home, I ran through the paper supply rather quickly. I liked paper with small prints but the prints I liked were on cotton broadcloth. The problem was to stiffen the fabric enough to fold it. After finding a solution, I realized the tremendous potential this process held.

Since then, I have taught numerous workshops hosted by art organizations, art centers, a community college and related specialty stores throughout the Pacific Northwest. The students are very enthusiastic and wonderfully inventive. They are an inspiration.
